PROVEN TECHNOLOGY - F-35 JSF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Transition to Production and Focusing on STOVL Operations
2009 is an exciting year for the F-35 JSF Lightning II and the F135
engine program. As the
program transitions from development to production, Pratt & Whitney is actively working
to prepare assembly and test facilities to support the long-term production goals of the
F-35 program.
At the same time, Pratt & Whitney is preparing to power the first STOVL operations of the F-35B flight test aircraft. The F135 was cleared for powered lift operations in January, and is ready to power the first F-35 STOVL tests later this year.
